The new Tappé/Imrey Studio designed Edgartown Public Library has been awarded LEED Silver certification. The 3-winged space was designed to meet the unique challenges of its location on Martha’s Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts, with Category 5 hurricane resistance and summer vacation population surges that increase library activities tenfold.
Green building features include enhanced thermal and lighting controls, high solar reflectance index roofing materials, high efficiency envelope and mechanical equipment, 75% construction waste recycling, low VOC FF&E, ventilation, reduced water consumption and heat island effect, among others.
