This single family residence is located in mid-coast Maine. The house is carefully sited in a wooded area along a granite ridge near an abandoned quarry. Entirely heated using a geothermal well, the main living area has radiant slate floors. Careful sun angle analysis was completed to develop a building form that maximizes passive heat gain in winter and adequate shading in summer. The interior includes the extensive use of fir paneling and pine ceilings to create an inviting material palette.
