Tappé team tours latest elementary school projects

The Tappé team recently toured several elementary school projects nearing completion.

Belmonte Elementary School | Saugus, MA


The tour began with Belmonte Elementary School in Saugus, MA. This addition/renovation project includes substantial interior and exterior updates.

Belmonte Elementary School Updates:

  • Renovated three-level classroom wing
  • Revamped gymnasium, cafeteria, and media center
  • Updated space for school district administration functions and opperations
  • Vibrant and coordinated color identified interior spaces and wayfinding

Ivan G. Smith Elementary School | Danvers, MA


The tour continued with Ivan G. Smith Elementary school in Danvers, MA. This new construction project includes a thoughtful and intentional design approach to the needs voiced by the Smith School, its students, and the Town of Danvers.


The new school also improves site integration by mitigating traffic/circulation bottlenecks and matching the character of the neighborhood. Universal design both inside and out allow for a seamless integration of learning and mobility. With a built capacity of 465 students, the 82,000 Sqft. school is on track to receive CHPS (Collaborative for High Performing Schools) Certification, ensuring a sustainable and healthy environments for students and teachers. Some other highlights of the new Smith School include:

  • Climbing wall and rope net in the gymnasium
  • Learning commons featuring reading nooks
  • Recording studio in STEAM room
  • State-of-art kitchen with dual serving lines
  • Therapeutic learning centers
  • Teacher planning rooms
  • Sod soccer field
  • Chilled beam air distribution system
